There’s Poison in the Spring — A Memoir

This memoir is a work of nonfiction. Although creative language is used throughout, special attention has been given to details and facts....

January Bayou

January Bayou, original artwork by Michael J. Richardson, (c) 2018

The Antebellum home is taken from a place in Louisiana called “Oak Alley Plantation.” It’s not exactly like that, but it’s the model from memory.  It’s a thoughtful drawing.  The house looks vibrant and alive, yet the trees offer a look of “old” and “winter.” Those are live oaks.  They have foliage year-round (though it’s sparse during the winter months). There are no leaves in my drawing. I thought of this drawing based on an old poem I wrote years ago called “The Passing”—it’s about Death passing by once again today.
