There’s Poison in the Spring — A Memoir

This memoir is a work of nonfiction. Although creative language is used throughout, special attention has been given to details and facts....

That One Goodbye

That One Goodbye, original artwork by Michael J. Richardson, (c) 2018

The waving hand is straight out of my head.  There is so much to that picture.  The little water moccasin swimming away, the lone nail (holding nothing), the teasing dragonflies.  There’s a breeze blowing (see the moss?), the fish traps tied to the pier.  And did you see the little canoe?  A little flat-bottomed Cajun canoe is called a “pirogue”—pronounce “pee-row.”  It’s moving away from the waving old hand, just off the page.  Whose hand is it? Who is the hand waving to? Why is the cup still so full, if a visitor was just there?  Is this a last “good bye”???
